How UK Government is really run
Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister were BBC sitcoms based on inside knowledge of how Britain's civil service manipulates politicians.
They are as true to real life today as when first produced in the 1980's and the Iron Lady, Maggie Thatcher found it invaluable as a guide to handling the unaccountable, unelected civil servants.
Whilst very funny and highly entertaining, the programmes cut right to the chase and expose the machinations of politicians and civil servants.
The Yes Minister series follow an imaginary politician from his first appointment as a minister through his ordeals by civil servants to achieving some small success, always with the civil servant ending by saying "Yes Minister" in a multitude of ways all of which are funny.
The Yes Prime Minister series continue the saga, but now with the MP appointed as Prime Minister and hoping to do great things, always with one eye on the voter reaction and usually thwarted by his ever faithful chief civil servant and a less diplomatic junior civil servant.
Sadly, there are no more writers of the high calibre of those who created the series and even the actors are no longer with us.
As far as I can see, there is nothing bad about the products, just one great laugh from start to finish and should be compulsory viewing for everyone who wants to understand how British government really works and have a good giggle at the same time.
One episode concerns a possible referendum which causes the chief ciivil servant to almost have a fit at the mere though of people having any say in what government really does.
Very topical today, bearing in mind this year's EU referendum result and attempts to reverse the democratic decision made by the voters.

It is what the title says
Provides good historic data on the subject but highly technical with lots of references.

Waterproof box for mains sockets and transformers
It does the job of letting me house transformers for LED lighting outdoors with a multiway socket inside it.
The socket is not supplied with the product but the box is the only one I found that could house my existing socket.
