Revealing at least.
Gives a great insight into life on Pitcairn island and those islanders on it.Sad at times but humerous too.

Beach Of Tears.
My late father landed with allied forces on Hermanville on D Day 1944 .He survived that awful period and came home to Ireland and lived a peaceful life and raised a good family. The author gives some interesting information on what the Norman coastal area was like before they landed and this I found interesting. The author was very au fait with how the French lived and survived throughout the occupation and also the deployment of the troops when they landed.and of course he is French which gives it substance .My late father never spoke about his ordeal much except to tell us where he landed , and so I wanted this book as it covered his landing beach.I went back with him to Ouistrehem in 1982 and it was a a wonderful but sad trip .Normandy will always have a special place in the hearts of my family.Anyone interested in what happened on 6th June 1944 should buy this book.

John McCain Book.
1 of 1 found this helpful Whatever way you vote Republican or Democrat, one thing is assured John McCain's love of country . His love of his own place, comes across very vivid in this book. His forgiveness of his captors , though not articulated , is evident also.I am Irish and would be tending towards Democrat, but it would have been nice to see such a patriotic man in the White House . Having said all of this , it is nice to see America shaking - off it's past and electing the first african american president . People may understand the Irish Catholic pride when Jack Kennedy was elected . As one of our govrnment said at that time " we have a friend in the White House . Anyway,a good read, from a loyal american , who served his country in war and peace. Well done Mr McCain.
