They Work
My son has hyper sensitivity to noise and yet volunteers on a community farm near Heathrow. He recently lost of the ear-plugs and asked me to re-order. I think this shows that they work.

Empowering the people who use social service -
It describes the theory and practice of empowering people who for a wide variety of reasons need to use social services and also the people who care for the people who need to use social services in a methodical way. I bought it to learn more about what social workers are taught in university about empowering the people they work with and the background to the theory.
