"Miss Appleby Academy".Most people now don't realise how life was for the poor then.
It is how life was at the turn of the last century. Times were very poor for many Only Factory Owners & Landed gentry owners had money.

Rosamunde Pilcher's Trilogy of enjoyable stories kept me enthralled to the end!
Three separate tales, all with a common theme, keeps the reader going to the last page!

It deserves more than 5 stars!
A wonderful story of determination and intellect of a young girl. Excellent descriptions of how she overcame her nerves and fear, to continue to cross into realms of success in the enormous world of championship chess competition. Recommending this book to all, even if, like me, never played or understood anything about the game of chess. Am reading book for a second time. Beautifully written true story.
