X-type Knuckles and Bearings - great kit
If you’re having issues with corrosion on your knuckle, this is ideal. My original part was not coming off the damper and the bolt was so corroded that with a big bar the bolt head started to turn but the nose did not leaving me no choice but to source a new knuckle. I’ve used this company recently and was impressed. At first it seems a lot of money, especially if you need a pair as I did, but whilst you can get a second hand useable part for less, these are cleaned, repainted and new nuts and bolts (including the hub nut), but most importantly come with brand new bearings and of your knuckles are that far gone, chances are new bearings are no bad thing, and buying these would be no bad thing if you needed bearings and wanted a quick swap (providing your old ones will come off the damper!). Perhaps a fair old chunk of money for an old car of low value but if you love your jag and you do the miles, then we’ll worth putting the money into these.

Hornby GWR Holden 101-class
1 of 1 found this helpful The venerable Hornby 101 has appeared in almost innumerable guises (nearly all fantastical) over the years. Based on an interesting one-off prototype in the early 1900's that was relatively short lived, the Great Western example numbered 101 is probably the closest representation of the real engine (also numbered 101) if realism is important to you, although this livery is still grander than the real engine seems to have been. As a model in its own right, it is great value, quick and surprisingly capable. It's nice enough to be an additional model shunting on a GWR-themed layout, or just for fun on any set-up. It's modest level of detailing reflects its price and era of the original Hornby model, with items such as handrails moulded to the body rather than separate wire, but the benefit is a rugged durable model making it ideal for a youngsters first set. All said and done, it seems unlikely most railway modellers whether serious or for entertainment haven't come across this model, and with its inclusion in brand new beginner sets for as little as £50 or used individual engines for not much over £10, available in wide variety of schemes with one or two close to satisfying reality, long may that continue.
