    Unit works, good price
Start with the fact that this is a $95 welder. You cannot expect what an expensive welder will give you. I would highly recommend you open it up before powering it on. They stuff components in the top, including the screws that secure the handle to the top. One of them had come out of the bag and was lodged under the circuit board. Had I powered it up without taking the sides off I probably would have shorted the unit out. The latch/pin thing to secure the top lid is a nightmare. You really have to muscle it to get it to move to allow the top to open. I have seen others just cut the pins off and deal with securing it later. Other than that it has been working OK. There are no real instructions for this unit, so you will want to watch some YouTube videos on the units like this. Example: there is no detailed instruction on how to assemble the wire spool components. The instructions just say to make sure to do it right. If you don't the spool may release and you have a mess on your hands with the wire. Sandwich the spring between the larger spool holder and the top nut. Side spool units give you a chart to help set the voltage and wire speed based on metal thickness. This has no chart. Again, watch some videos out there. MIN + 1 is the low setting and only good for thin material. MIN + 2 is medium low. MAX + 1 is medium high (worked for my 1/8" steel), and MAX + 2 is high high. I messed around with MIN 1 and 2 and never got penetration on the 1/8" steel. I welded for moments on the MAX + 1 and it worked. So far I have not tripped the breaker (dedicated 20A with no other consumption on it) but I have only welded for a few minutes a few times. The wire fed perfectly first try, and I have had no feed issues so far. I did not use the wire that came with it, opting to get some Hobart .030 wire instead. .030 appears to be the right wire for a 110V unit like this. As it was only $95 and came very fast to my house I give it four stars so far. When answering "is it of good quality" there should be a mid response, as it could use some improvements, but again it is working.
