Memories On The Street
2 of 2 found this helpful Many long forgotten faces are brought back to life I noticed in the very first episodes that The Glad Tidings Mission was built on the side of The Rovers but months later it had walked down the other end of the street on the opposite side ha ha. Those live episodes often saw microphones and parts of cameras moving away from the action to get off-screen Emily was always called Miss Nugent and never by her first name (maybe she didn't have one ) It was in those days of innocence when Lucille's baby brother christopher is taken with his pram and later found to have been taken by other children and not the man with the thick glasses and dirty mackintosh..... Kids played out in the street because mums and dads felt they were safe. Ken started calling Mr Tatlock Uncle Albert after marrying his Niece Valerie. and Stan and Hilda bought number 13 for under £500 A number of deaths in those early days including Martha Longhurst in The Rovers and Len saying very slowly She's dead! - the slower more sadder theme used at the endings is still there but not used anymore these days. Certainly a delve back into the past as a child it was a must see in those days with just the 2 tv channels
