Simplistic quality sound enhancement
Even in 2019 I'd have given this five stars. More on why shortly. It creates very accurately the tones of the two guitarists I know (Hendrix/Satriani) and some of the presets for effects will get you through just about any jam and plenty of gigs - so long as you're not a tap dancer (more pedals than you can realistically use in a studio let alone live).
I actually bought it to use with an acoustic as I have a healthy pedal board for electric. But I couldn't help give it a whizz. Given that I'm the sort who likes to sculpt their own sound - and effects chains - any device with patches etc is going to get fiddly. But I reckon if my board was unavailable this would do for most gigs.
I play blues/rock originals and like some overdrive (Santana, early Clapton etc) through a Marshall MG100. The board essentially has a wah, DS1 into OD1, Joyo phase and any delay/reverb comes from the amp. This pedal gave me comparable options.
The quality of the sounds don't sound as fake (see digital) as for example my old Boss ME50 - which sampled my sound, rebuilt it and chucked that into my amp/studio/whatever.
It seemed to have heaps of sustain that felt natural, nice rounded distortion and clear delay/reverb with nice modulated effects.
It's incredibly light but feels robust. The wah and volume work expressively and intuitively (assuming you're not a robot). I don't have a mains unit yet but it's probably worth getting one.
Either way it will slip into the side pocket of my acoustic case nicely. I wanted very clean tone for my Adam Black Dreadnought with Seymour Duncan Magmic. I use volume, wah. reverb and delay. Maybe a smidge of chorus.
Over-writing a dirty channel (despite having the manual I can't find any free channels or whatever they're called) I dialled or rather notched in some reverb. This I like on for solo work so my sound doesn't just die after a few seconds. I was inspired to keep playing.
Bringing in the volume pedal and some delay works sweetly - BUT - you can't have both reverb and delay on. You can however use wah and reverb so there's more opportunity to chop out some percussive rhythms. Shame there's no FX in/out as I could sneak in my Mad Professor Deep Blue [clone].
For it's age it still functions well and they're going cheap now - until the loop squad realise it will loop over loop... But is that talent or just clever digitised accompaniment?
Whatever, for the used price (mine was Β£24) they are impressive - even to a bloke whose been playing 50+ years...

Get a Grip - Aerosmith
Not a big Aerosmith fan (I bought this for my partner who is certainly a Steve Tyler fan:)) I find they got better as time went by. This and pump are probably my fav Aero albums. Consistently good tracks apart from the 'filler' boogie man.
Sleeve art is a bit pink floyd weird. Eat the Rich is a sentiment close to my heart. On this album there's humour, partying rock grooves, social comment...
Production is good but to my taste Aero sound has always been a bit thin even through the best hifis. Musically it's insane to get too critical as, like the Rolling Stones, this is a band you judge by feel and spirit, not technical excellence. God-time boogie I suppose you call it - great for rock discos (bike rallies & such)

Marantz Tape CD and Amp
It was bought for the amp to use as PC monitoring for recording. The amp has a flat yet rich response - ideal for getting an honest mix in your foldback.
For the sake of getting to know the amp it has replaced a Technics one wired up to a Phillips CD, Wharfedale Z speakers and a Panasonic widescreen TV. I am hearing things I'd not noticed before even in my own recordings - whoch is quite something when I said that of the Technics amp.
If you are a technophile I'm sure you might find fault. But it would be so niggly as to be out of the factoring for someone who loves their music and likes the things the see on TV to sound like you'd expect.
I'm sure the CD and tape will provide similar characteristics, though I have no imediate ned for either. Marantz had a good reputation when I first encountered them in the 90s.
