Canon EOS-1Ds Mark I Digital Camera
3 of 4 found this helpful As such the Eos 1 DS digital range is a real quality piece of photographic equipment. Bear in mind that when new they worked out to approx £4000-£5000, so if you can pick up one for a fraction of the price you won't go far wrong. Built to last with their super tough alloy bodies which are weather sealed as well (but don't take it swimming with you). Should give you alife of quality pics. I recently bought a 1DS mk1 which shoots raw files at 11m/b and JPEGS at various sizes with compression and so far happy with the results.
Providing you like the fact that they are very heavy and with 100-400 USM L lens on - extremely heavy then you're really buying up till recently the tye of camera that the Professionals would have.
Obviously if you can afford the DS Mk2 (more expensive) or Mk3 (pricey at the moment) then fine. Or alternately the Canon D Mk 2 or Mk 3 if you want something that is more suited for sports photography as they shoot up to 10 frames a second - if at a slightly lower resolution. Don't buy the Original 1D Mk 1 though unless you are happy with the fact you will end up with 4 m/b files as a maximum.
Anyway what more can I say - love Canon - and will stick with them
