Priceless stuff but why bother with identical remakes?
1 of 1 found this helpful After recently watching the remake of The Omen I just had to see the original films again. The 1976 version still stands out as one of the finest horror movies around as far as I am concerned. Even though it's quite gory in places it would stand up for the quality of the story and performances alone. The sequels have their moments too. Though not as strong in plot they still perform well in the scare stakes and again the choices of cast are appropriately made to get the most out of the formula. The extra features are well chosen (the original film's second disk supplying plenty of content in this area and deservedly so). The only down side for me is the inclusion of the 2006 remake! Utterly pointless in my mind (similar to the identical remake of The Hills Have Eyes), they even managed to cast Liev Schreiber as Robert Thorn (his voice is spookily similar to Gregory Peck's). The efforts of Mia Farrow as Mrs. Baylock were okay but overshadowed by the manically intense performance of Billie Whitelaw and as much as I like Pete Postlethwaite, Father Brennan will always be Patrick Troughton in my mind (he was Doctor Who when I was a kid). All in all a great boxed set to have up there with the leaders like Alien and Raiders of the Lost Ark. If you're a youngster and have only seen the remake, do yourself a favour and experience the Omen movies Old School!

Great timeless comedy of yesteryear.
Always loved this series when I was a kid. They don't make them like this any more!
