Superb Primary Source for Napoleonic Uniforms
This excellent book combines brilliant reproductions of 100 watercolor paintings of Napoleonic soldiers with a detailed commentary about the uniforms depicted. A must for any student of French Napoleonic uniforms.

A Valuable Book for Napoleonic Enthousiasts
This book about the Peninsular War battle of Albuera fought on May 16, 1811 between a French army under the command of Marshal Soult and a British-Portuguese-Spanish army under Marshal Beresford is intended to satisfy the most demanding student of Napoleonic military history while still being enjoyable for a casual reader interested in armed conflict in the age of Wellington and Napoleon. The story of the battle is told in unprecedented detail and the text is supported by footnotes, detailed maps, extensive orders of battle for the combatant armies, several appendices on related topics (including one on uniforms) and a lengthy bibliography. Most importantly, the book is based entirely on primary sources and the information provided by those sources clarifies numerous aspects of the battle that have been previously mis-reported or misunderstood even by famous historians such as Napier and Oman. I am the author of this book, so you might want to take these comments with a grain of salt. On the other hand, you might want to buy the book and read it to make up your own mind abut its value as a reliable and well-written volume of Napoleonic history.
