Bach for the 21st Century!!

Four Bach concertos are given exceptionally fine performances on this Deutsche Grammophon CD (2003). The soloists, led by the inimitable Hilary Hahn but not forgetting Margaret Batjer (Concerto for 2 Violins, Strings and Continuo) and Allan Vogel (Concerto for Oboe, Violin, Strings and Continuo) are on top form throughout, ably and skilfully supported by the LA Chamber Orchestra under Jeffrey Kahane. The recorded sound is balanced and clear and brings out the very best of all the movements. When I received it I played it on repeat for the whole morning! The accompanying booket is informative and well illustrated. Let's leave the last words to Hilary Hahn :'It is my hope that while lsitening to this album, you....will be inspired to hum to the slow movements, tap your feet to the fast, and dance to it all (at home of course)! I am sure Bach would be pleased!'
