An excellent entry level SLR.
Firstly, a confession, I love Nikon SLR's. This F3500 is the 12th addition to my collection which are all in use and ranges from a late 70's EM, through early 00's F100, to the digital F3100 and this F3500.
The F3500 is Nikon's entry level SLR and in program mode is simple and initiative to use, auto focusing is fast and the resulting image quality excellent. There are also plenty of manual options/modes available for the more adventurous user.
My only slight annoyance is that the comprehensive instruction manual is provided only on a CD. I've obtained a printed copy from a third party printing company.

Top notch build quality and sounds amazing
Purchased as refurbished, was in fact brand new "previous model" stock at a fraction of new price.
Although the design might be a few years old, still sounds completely amazing. Easily a match for some new amps 4 times the price!
Build quality and feel top notch.
