2.5 Inch External IDE Hard Drive Case Enclosure Caddy HDD SSD USB 2.0 Black

Nice lightweight IDE Hard Drive Enclosure
Having recently upgraded two dell C series laptops, I was left with two vintage 20 Gb IDE hard drives dating from 2003. I decided to reuse them as storage drives and so purchased two IDE Hard Drive Case Enclosure Caddies from eBay seller LUPO-STORE. The caddies appear to be made from a ABS lightweight plastic and the two half’s clip together once the drive is installed, as opposed to most designs that use tiny screws that are difficult to find again if accidentally dropped. The finished assembly is quite light to carry around has a nice appearance to it. The only problem encountered was the vintage drives themselves. The power requirements for the drives are 0.7amp and 1.0amp respectively. The enclosures are supplied with a single connector USB power lead which when plugged into a USB 3.0 outlet at 0.9 amp output was not enough to power the drives adequately. I had to use a USB splitter lead to power the drives from two USB 3.0 outlets to achieve enough power input, so an additional splitter power lead is necessary to use with the enclosures when using drives of this era.
