l got the bug
7 of 7 found this helpful l have been a DAB fan since its first introduction and liked the " Quirkey look " of the BUG as soon as l saw it , designed by wayne hemmingway and manufactured by Pure a UK firm it certainly didnt look like any radio l had seen before . The BUG is a band 3 DAB device
l was looking for a DAB radio that suited two of my needs , to function as a bedside alarm clock , and to be able to record programmes from the radio onto a SD card or similar. l am a comedy fan and BBC7 is a must for retro and new comedy shows
The bug does both of these things and more ,the connections on the back of the BUG include a Digital Out as well as an Analogue Out ,a Headphone Socket and a telescopic aerial connected via an " F " type connector which when taken off means you could connect an external attenna for better reception.
There is a SD card slot on the back (l use a 2 gb SD card formatted in the bug itself so as to make sure it is in the correct file format).
There is also an USB connection for pc downloads and updating the firmware on the BUG.
If you connect the BUG via USB the PC (xp etc ) will see the SD card as an extra drive and allocate it a drive letter, you can then copy mp3 / mp2 files to or from the card for playing in the BUG or PC .
Another useful feature is ReVu this enables you to pause a radio broadcast ( say to answer that dammed mobile phone that always rings at inconvenient times or answer the door ) ,when you return to the BUG you just pick up where you left off , or better still use the Timed Recording to set the timer so as not to miss your favorite broadcasts .
l could not find any faults at all with the BUG ,
The BUG version l bought had the original firmware installed (version 1.1) the new " BUG TOO " has updated firmware (v 2.2 ) but thats no problem because a visit to the PURE website means that you can download the new firmware update and make your old version of the BUG into a "BUG TOO " all over the USB connection via your PC.
So do what l did and search out an older version of the BUG on Ebay and pay less for it then update the firmware and have an up to date BUG for less money.
Perhaps the next version will include a CD player and LCD light and make it a truly ideal bedside alarm cd/clock /mp3 radio.......l think l will suggest this to PURE and Hemmingway and perhaps they will send me a freebie if it comes to fruition

bought these as a disposable cutting tool that could be used in various situations , l have found the quality as such that l dont consider them to be just disposable BUT an essential tool in my emergency tin along with a sewing kit , firestarter , kindling wool , etc
