A map can paint a million words and help you find your way in an uncertain landscape.

OS maps are the best in the world. It is nice to have something to feel proud about. Weatherproof ones are ideal but luckily we didn't get too wet in Wigton.

Stories that will stay with you and say so much about the human condition

I love short stories - they make a great break when you've finished one novel and are not quite ready for the next. Alice Munro is master of the form. I found these stories really morish.
