Good value, easy to assemble blast cabinet
1 of 1 found this helpful Item arrived earlier than expected and I didn't waste any time assembling the blast cabinet. This took no more than 30 minutes although needed two people to tighten the bolts that hold media funnel to the main cabinet - my arms aren't long enough to tighten the screws and hold the nuts at the same time! Once assembled everything seemed pretty sturdy even before filling with 25kg of glass blasting media.
I definitely recommend connecting some form of dust extraction as you will fill your workshop with fine dust and not be able to see what you are blasting. I also added a regulator & filter/water separator before the gun to ensure the air was as dry as possible and make the air connection less obtrusive (I used a quick connect running vertically up one of the legs..
The blasting gun supplied is OK although I am sure the media hose will need replacing regularly through wear.
The LED is bright enough to illuminate the work piece while you are blasting although I recommend placing the cabinet away from over head lights as you may get some glare from the window.
Blasting was OK on smaller items using fine glass grit - will be slow on big items due to the size of the nozzle used - I only have a 3HP compressor which may work on the bigger nozzle and with coarser grit.
The cabinet was well sealed and I didn't notice any dust escaping during blasting - just be careful when you open the door as grit seems to collect in the corners and will fall out unless you clear away before opening the door!
Overall good value and does what I need it to do - would like to see a laminated glass screen used instead of polycarbonate as I'm sure this will get scratched quickly on the outside - inside are replaceable protective films. Could also benefit from relocation of and use of a tougher material for the media hose as it does restrict movement of the gun a little.
