Doom 3 Limited Collector's Edition for Microsoft Xbox - Original. Complete.
    11 Mar, 2017
    Doom 3 still delivers
Doom 3 still delivers a stellar and horror-filled experience. And like in all the other Doom games, you’ll have to fight off thousands of Hell beings. Despite the fact you can handle endless hordes of them, no one else can kill anything. But how do these demons get in? Of course, it’s a mad scientist. And that’s about as complex as the plot gets. Thankfully, it isn’t drawn out by lengthy cut-scenes and throws you right back into the action. Naturally, the gun fights are the most thrilling and satisfying parts of Doom 3. It has a wide selection of weapons such as the pistol, chainsaw, BFG 9K, and Soul Cube. By far the most interesting weapon is the Soul Cube that recharges using dead bodies. After charging, it targets enemies with the most health and kills them instantly, with the exception of bosses who have extremely large quantities of health. All of the weapons fire realistically, and look visually appealing as their bullets tear foes to shreds. The weapons look fantastic and have a distinct pop to them as you unload a clip. But no matter which tool of destruction you use, it’s thrilling to listen to an enemy howl in pain. Although there a large amount of guns, the level variation isn’t there. Ninety-nine percent of Doom 3 is composed of linear corridors where you move through them, blowing up any demons in your path. However, there’s the occasional large room that glows with red light. Upon entering a voice from hell taunts you, before tons of enemies, spawn at once. These situations stick out in your head, as you’ll be unleashing clip after clip into these foes, and panting afterwards. Yet, these situations are few and far between, causing most of the game to blur together. It doesn’t help that the entire game is extremely dark covering the excellent graphical details, and considering the fifteen to twenty hour length, additional level variation would’ve been nice. As you roam the corridors, separating each level from the next is a bland loading screen and tons of enemies from Imps to Pinky Beasts. They all feature tantalizing detail like red eyes, multi-colored skin, and sharp teeth. But they aren’t very smart and simply charge you. They fail to work as a group, dodge fire, duck for cover, or surround you. They seem incredibly stupid in nature, and are weak. A few bullets or a lick of chainsaw is enough to kill the bulk of the enemies. But this doesn’t prevent Doom 3 from scaring the crap out of you. Every room is filled with demons jumping from nowhere, and excellent use of shadows. After very inch you walk, you get chills down your spine. You’ll hear the vicious growl of enemy, before it walks from the darkness. All this comes on top of light malfunctions and quiet click of your shoes on the hard metal floor. You never know what lies beyond that next door, whether it will be empty or a Hell knight will soon be ripping you apart. Xbox owners had to wait seven months longer, because Vicarious Visions added a satisfying co-operative mode. The co-op is extremely enjoyable and it’s only a partner and yourself blasting through the single-player. It adds more foes and tweaks the dialogue for two marines. Taking down a voracious Hell monster together is a bonding experience. Co-op and the specifications of your PC are the largest differences between the two versions. Unfortunately, the enjoyable single-player is countered by a flat multiplayer. Even though the series is renowned for great multiplayer, all Doom 3 has is basic deathmatch and capture the flag, with no other variants to keep you intrigued. The limited variants, custom options, and character models further water-down the experience. It does feature identical content from the PC version, but it was also a disappointment. Nevertheless, with shooters like Halo 2 and Battlefront II out, don’t expect to find many people playing Doom 3. If you’re one of the many who believe graphics are crucial to a game’s success, then Doom 3 is your best friend. Every inch is detailed by shadow effects, flickering lights, and astounding enemy models. However if you like amazing gameplay and multiplayer you’ll have to look elsewhere. Even the scary atmosphere and satisfying gun fights can make up for the bland A.I. and lack of any level design. Still if you like being terrified and putting Hell in its place, pick up Doom 3. Sony DAV-SB 100
The Sony DAV-SB100 is without any doubt the most affordable Sony Home Theatre System on the market. This product would be totally ideal for anyone, who as yet hasn’t turned to the theatre systems and wants to, without splashing too much cash. It would also be ideal for all students at college and university. The DAV-SB100 contains five satellite speakers and one passive sub-woofer. WEGA theatre brings together the complete range of Sony AV products to create the ultimate in home cinema experience. The five satellite speakers are at 50 watts each and the passive sub-woofer at 80w giving a mind-blowing massive 330 total output!, even your neighbours will be able to listen to the film, and that’s without you turning to full volume! Of course with Sony, due to Columbia Tristar, the system cannot be hacked like other makes, however it can either be chipped or you can place a cd-rom in to it which will allow you to play R1 discs etc. The biggest plus with the DAV-SB100 is that it has a built in decoder, allowing you to listen to your DVDs in the manner in which they were made, this being in Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS (Digital Theatre Sound) 5.1., out of the two, DTS is far more advanced than DD, resulting in far more clarity to certain aspects of the film. However due to the amount of subtitles on the vast majority of R2 discs, DTS you will find is much rarer than DD. Even still you will notice a huge difference to the quality of the DVD whilst watching through this system rather than an every day DVD player. It gives a feel for the film more, and at times you think your actually in it, try out ‘The Gladiator’ in DTS mode, especially the opening sequence, also, in DD try ‘Saving Private Ryan’, again the opening sequence where they land in France, I wouldn’t be surprised if your end up ducking behind the sofa! The Sony DAV-SB100 isn’t just a DVD player, it will also play a huge range of other items, such as; DVD-R, DVD-RW (Video Mode), CD, CD-R, CD-RW, VIDEO-CD, MP3 & J-PEG Playback. It also has the following; S-Master Full Digital Amplifier Dolby Digital/DTS/Dolby Pro-Logic II Decoders Digital Cinema Sound RDS Tuner Scart RGB Not only that, it’s extremely stylish, (comes in Silver) and will look good with any other system. Most importantly it won’t dent your wallet! *PLEASE NOTE* That like the Sony DAV150, this product, is actually made by LG for Sony under the Sony Trademark. Full Specifications are; Input / Output Audio Input 1 Headphone Impedance (Ω) 8 Headphone Output YES Scart Input 1 Scart Output 1 Subwoofer Output (active) 1 Video Output 1 General Specifications Power Consumption: On (W) 70 Power Consumption: Standby (W) 1 Power Requirement 230 V; 50/60 Hz Speaker Centre Depth (mm) 106 Speaker Centre Height (mm) 102 Speaker Centre Width (mm) 98 Speaker Front Depth (mm) 106 Speaker Front Height (mm) 102 Speaker Front Width (mm) 98 Speaker Rear Depth (mm) 106 Speaker Rear Height (mm) 102 Speaker Rear Width (mm) 98 Subwoofer Depth (mm) 402 Subwoofer Height (mm) 380 Subwoofer Name SS-WS9 Subwoofer Width (mm) 173 System Depth (mm) 384 System Height (mm) 70 System Width (mm) 430 Weight: Speaker Centre per piece (kg) 0.6 Weight: Speaker Front per piece (kg) 0.6 Weight: Speaker Rear per piece (kg) 0.6 Weight: Subwoofer (kg) 6.7 Weight: System (kg) 4.7 Supplied IR Remote Commander Type RM-SS220

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (Sony PlayStation 3, 2007) - Europ…

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
With this game being the first ‘Ratchet and Clank’ title on the PlayStation 3, it had pressure on it to live up to the high standards of gameplay and humour that have been evident in previous games in the series. Thankfully, it doesn’t disappoint. Hinted at by the name of the game, ‘ToD’ has a big emphasis on huge and, quite frankly, ridiculous weapons. These range from a multiple-missile firing gun called a Fusion Grenade to what is known as a ‘nano-swarmer’, which uses nano-technology to destroy enemies without you even getting involved. Even though some people feel that the weapons make the game too easy at times, including the final boss battle, I believe that the vast array of weapons available in ‘ToD’ make the game a whole lot more enjoyable than previous titles in the series because they are quite simply so much fun to use. However it is not only the weapons that have improved; the gadgets in the game have taken a step forward too. Ratchet’s wrench can now be thrown like a boomerang, essential for overcoming obstacles and also useful to fight enemies from a longer range. Ratchet can now also use ‘Robo-Wings’, which allow him to glide to distant places while you use the SIXAXIS motion sensor to control him, and in addition he has access to the ‘Geo-Laser’, which cuts through certain weakened walls. Although the gadgets have not been improved to the large extent that the weapons have, they are still bigger and better than ever and an integral part of the game. Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of DestructionThere are also some crazy new devices in ‘ToD’, the one standing out in particular being the Groovitron. When activated near enemies, it makes them dance like there’s no tomorrow, oblivious to the fact that you will surely be coming to destroy them while they do so. The first time you use it and watch your enemies dancing to the music, I bet you anything that you won’t be able to resist the urge to let a childish giggle escape from your lips, no matter how much of a serious gamer you consider yourself to be. The story itself has a few layers to it, the main ones being the fact that Emperor Tachyon has taken a disliking to Ratchet because he’s the last Lombax in the universe and also the mystery behind the ‘zoni’ previously mentioned that Clank keeps seeing but no-one else can. However, to be quite honest, you won’t really be thinking about the story while you play because all you’ll be worrying about is playing and progressing through the game itself, which will keep you more than satisfied without the need for a storyline. For the first time in the ‘Ratchet and Clank’ series, you get to take direct control of Clank himself in specific sections of the game. He’s great fun to play as, especially because most of the time with him you will be ordering around little ‘zoni’, alien-type creatures that do as Clank tells them and enable him to progress through the game. These sections with Clank are a nice change of pace for the game, and are very welcome additions that add much more variety. The graphics in ‘ToD’ are close to perfection, especially the cut-scenes which look like they could have been taken right out of a CGI movie. Even the in-game graphics are excellent, portraying a vibrant world that feels alive and calls out to be explored. ‘ToD’ uses the PlayStation 3’s incredible graphics capability like few other games do. The sound in the game is solid enough, with some good voice-overs and music that increases the tension in the game. There’s really not a lot to be said about the audio aspects of the game; there’s nothing wrong with it, it’s just there’s not a whole lot of emphasis on music in ‘ToD’. Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction The only real thing I can think of as a negative for this game is that it’s not very long; I believe it took me around ten hours to complete it, and personally I’m not even a person who goes at a fast rate. However this isn’t an issue, as you can replay the game in harder mode and unlock more weapons, and there’s always the battle arena to revisit, where you battle hordes of enemies to complete challenges, which is always highly challenging and enjoyable. Overall, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction is a superb game with lots of depth, humour and, arguably most importantly, replay value. There’s no doubt about the fact that this really is an essential part of your PlayStation 3 collection.
