The Exceptional Lew Soloff !
Speak Low - later titled But Beautiful - provides insight into the talent depth of Lew Soloff. This CD frames Lew in the music that may best display his career. Upbeat, happy, exiting jazz, surrounded by Kenny Kirkland (piano), Richard Davis (bass) and Elvin Jones (drums). Raunchy Rita and Speak Low, are uptempo old songs that this group executed flawlessly. The song But Beautiful allows Lew to express the inward ballad soulfulness followed by a shift to a more extroverted style. You cannot go wrong with this collectors edition.
