The happiest days if your life
1 of 1 found this helpful If you enjoy old school themed movies (e.g the nutty St Trinian's) you will be thrilled by the performances of Alistair Sim and Margaret Rutherford in this consummate comedy. I never tire of this classic British film - which manages to bring order out of chaos by coordination of action and determination to outwit all opposition. Even when the final battle is lost a note of confidence rings out with the application of a sensible compromise. The film is much more expansive (and a lot funnier) than the stage play as the outdoor action is a key part whereas on the stage the action does not move much further than the staff common-room.

This series (also available in French and Spanish) is so
refreshingly up-to-date. You really feel like you are learning a MODERN language. The back-up internet course is very helpful too and it's FREE !

Complete Works ?
I was very disappointed to find that this 407 page book contained only a commentary on two gospels - Mark and Luke.
On the inside its true nature was revealed namely that this was only volume TEN of a multi-volume set. Thus the front cover title THE COMPLETE WORKS OF THE VENERABLE BEDE by SAINT BEDE was misleading. Nor did the detailed information in the sale make any reference to Volume Ten or two gospels only.
Bede was an exceptionally prolific scholar and apart from the scripture of the books of the Old and New Testaments he embraced many other scientific and philosophical fields and was a notable hymwriter.
I had hoped that these writings would have been contained in this book.
The compiler, J. A. Gilles of Corpus Christi college Oxford, publishing in
1844, has presented a feast for Latinists, only a mere hors d'œuvre is presented in this tenth volume.
