    Nobody messes with Mr Ticky
Having broken three pingers in a year - I share my house with a small child and an over adventurous cat who both knock things off shelves with monotonous regularity - I decided I'd buy a slightly more expensive one. I read reviews - I know, what a saddo - and generally researched pingerdom. The result was Mr Ticky. Reassuringly expensive yet not bank-breakingly so, made by a firm with a good name and with a kind of utilitarian design that will never be high fashion but shouldn't date too badly, either. We've had Mr Ticky a few weeks now and I am very pleased with it. It's simple to use, the bell is good and loud and it rings for a long time. It looks cool and it's easy to wipe down - important since it lives next to the cooker so I need to be able to give it a birthday occasionally if I've been boiling jam furiously or frying things a bit over enthusiastically. While I suspect that, like buttons, the innards of all these things may well be made in the same factory in China somehere, Mr Ticky has proved to be surprisingly robust so far, having been dropped a couple of times without breaking and survived repeated attentions of a murderous nature from our cat. I like that the bell is a lot louder than some other pingers I've bought. It also had a guarantee. Inevitably, it was eyebombed after arrival but that's an occupational hazard in our house. In a nutshell then: looks good, works well and for me, it's been worth stumping up the extra cash.

Fun to build but not for a beginner.
This was great fun to build although it's an old kit made in 1985 so and there was a lot of flashing to file off and prepare before I could put the thing together. As a result, I'd recommend checking the date of your kits before you buy. I knew this was an old one and the seller had posted pictures of the contents as well as the box so I was aware it might not be as clean as the modern kits I'm used to when I went into it. Good fun.
