50 bucks well spent, go buy and spy on other people.
I bought this do to the fact that I tend to collect things that look useful. Overall, I like this product quite a bit.
Pros:
It's stupid, and that's how I like it. At this price level of technology, a precocious device can ruin you. Getting files in and out of your device is just a matter of searching through five folders. Little proprietary BS, just copy, paste, delete and then empty the trash if you use linux. You're done.
Good mic, pickups voices from ten feet. Can filter out buses and traffic.
Really, haven't tested the runtime on the record, but it can be used for an MP3 player for about 8-10 hours. I got this refurbished, so maybe more playtime if new.
Oh yeah, it can be used as an MP3 player*
USB hook up, headphones and computer mic jack.
Controls feel nice.
Just right size, even for my big hands
Competitively priced refurbished.
Cons:
Would prefer it to have a mini usb port instead of a full size USB male, finding an open slot is harder this way and in fact they obviously know this because they give you an extension cord. Works well enough but it would be a little less unwieldy.
Mono speaker is tinny and absolutely insubstantial. Minor complaint, it works but could be better.
*Mp3 player after you get the non linux firmware update. This isn't as much a grievance about lacking Linux (it takes two minutes and you can probably find a Windows or mac computer you can use) support as it is an annoyance that I had to do something to activate my mp3 capability and music capability for something that has a switch that changes it into an mp3 player. Should work out of box, as it was obviously designed with that in mind.
Charging is counter intuitive and I think it may need a computer to work (I probably misunderstood a safety warning there). You have to press the stop button while inserting into a USB slot. This may take multiple insertions to get right.

Moderately impressive explostion from the past
Its got great finish, pretty legible text and just looks ritzy. I have had a great time reading with this so far. Moreover a lot of these weren't used at all. You can get a 15 year old ereader that no one used. I get this feeling that mom and dad often tucked these away in their closets after their well meaning children left on december 26th. The flaw back when was its not a kindle. Today's flaw is its 15 years old and the ui is very clunky for 2022. Its also ever so slightly heavy because its aluminum and not plastic but that feels negligible to me. Oh and no wifi/bluetooth.
