The item was advertised as brand new. It was clearly an open box item.
I had these headphones before and at the discounted price it was a good deal. Problem was they developed a short where the cable enters the phones. Thinking it was a fluke I ordered a new pair. This set however was however definitely returned and I purchased it at a price that I bought new ones for a year earlier. I don't like using something around my ears that was worn by another person.
