Lancaster Target, Currie, Jack, Good Book

A Darn Good Read
A well written and easily readable account from one of Bomber Command's pilots who made through their first "tour" of operations in a Lancaster. The pen pictures of his fellow trainees and later his own crew are eminently visual - you can see the characters about which he writes, and with a calm and natural description he portrays the nights over occupied territories and under fire. First written in 1977, this book, for those interested in wartime auto-biographies, really stands the test of time..

....when you buy the genuine article. Having tried remanufactured cartridges, these seem to be hit and miss on whether they actually work, so despite the expense, go for the original and genuine !

1942 Western Desert air and ground action- non stop !
Third in the trilogy of books by "late entrant" author Frank Barnard following the exploits of two very dissimilar RAF pilots in WW II. Kit Curtiss is the altrustic ex public school and university 'hero', totally the opposite of his hard bitten 'Yank' fellow RAF officer Ossie Wolf, who, with a fanatical hatred of Nazism, becomes what may be perceived as the anti hero through this series. This third, (and final ??) volume, set in the Western Desert at the time of the El Alamein battle, should be read in conjunction with "Blue Man Falling", (first in the series, 1939/40 and the fall of France), and "Band of Eagles", (Malta 1941), where the paths of the two principal characters again cross. Excellently and accurately written, adventure, action, humanity all feature - this is a 10 out of 10 book in a 10 out of 10 trilogy. Get reading !!
