Adventures and thrilling artist
Genghis Blues is an exciting documentary of a musical genius who extends his talent and daring in to new terriorty carrying you and his crew along with him. Great music, fast paced and just the tip of the iceberg that is Paul Pena. I loved it. Discover all that is Pena.

The whole ball of spice
5 of 5 found this helpful On the whole it is wonderful to have both versions of this classic movie adaptation of the 20th century true epic and visionary writer - Frank Herbert.
The hard aluminum case is more show than tell and there isnt much to the extras either in the case or on the disk. This set is for those of use who have hunted and suffered through previous version VHS and tv captured attempts
at seeing the legendary Alan Smithee version. Though now with much hind sight and countless viewings of both version over the years the long version is sorely lacking in editing transitions and feels choppier and choppier in story telling the more I watch it.
But the true Dune devotees must have this as dvd navigation , while not as spectacular as guild navigators is a blessing and fitting for a movie of such scope and import.
The "documentaries" are brief, old and unsatisfying to anyone looking for new insights or discuss of the movies own history, notoriety or the historical context of the book, the man(Herbert) and current events.
In short:: This set is long on movie but too short on extras.

Animation Excellence
Simply or NOT so simply-- one of the most astonishing visual experiences I witness with CGI in the cartoon animation form. It is truly dizzying. The level of intensity and rendering is so uniquely designed within the animations own logic. In some ways it is beyond the real in just that way we have all be hoping for since the possibilities of CGI emerged. I have never seen use more richly or benefically than in this tour de force. There is over-the-top beauty dare I say an audicty in this undertaking, it makes you want to pause on every frame and inspect, engross and marvel at the creative power of this collective achievement. It is spellbinding. Once I found this film and watched it-- I watched it again at least 6 times in two weeks. I rave about it to everyone - Pixar be damned, this group of animation studios has thrown down the creative gauntlet in form, technique and sheer spectale AND delivered a nice story. Just writing about it makes me want to watch it again. I think I will... !!! Happy viewing.
