A sonic revelation
1 of 1 found this helpful I bought a 2M 78 cartridge recently, having previously used a popular make with a specially tipped stylus.
Having listened for a while it was apparent that previous background noise levels had significantly diminished and that the sound reproduced was much finer at the top end - an increased resolution which I thought only specially tipped stylii could bring.
As my collection is mainly post-1945, I shall be mothballing my other cartridges used for 78s and retaining one for the few pre-war discs I have.
I think what characterises this cartridge is the openness of sound extending throughout the frequency range, others 'peaking' somewhat in the mid-ranges. As I also have a reasonable collection of mono LPs, I shall be taking steps soon to purchase a 2M with a mono LP stylus.
The 2M 78 cartridge is a revelation. It's like sitting down to listen to one's collection for the first time.

A 'new' Canoscan 9000F
This machine was virtually new with all the accessories and software in original packing and the accessories still unopened. Although the software is not current, I use the Canoscan 9000F with VueScan which works perfectly and had prolonged the life of my original 9000F way beyond Canon's support timeframe. Very happy with it!
