Outstanding Vacuum Cleaner
So far, I have used this vacuum cleaner once to thoroughly clean a 1,300 sq. ft. apartment. My last one- a Kenmore canister, was expensive rubbish, so I did not have high hopes for this one. However, I am very surprised and pleased with this purchase. This Bosch canister vaccuum is a thoroughly excellent machine.
The vacuum is made in Germany, so initial quality is very high. Every bit of plastic, metal and rubber material used in its construction is top notch quality. Equally importantly, all the bits fit together quite perfectly. In terms of long term quality, it certainly feels like a reliable and solid machine that is sure to last.
The main motor in the vacuum has lots of power- 1,400 Watts, yet is quiet in operation. The motor in the main brush is almost silent, yet also powerful. A few more words about the main brush- it has softened, rubber like wheels which are very effective rollers that do not in any way mark or damage the polished woodblock they travel on. (The same can be said for the wheels on the canister.) The rotating swivel action of the main brush about the handle is very impressive. It can be maneuvered in the narrowest of spaces with ease. There is effective regulation of the main motor's RPM. The lower settings would be very useful in vacuuming curtains for instance. The vacuum cleaner is also quite light, making it easy to carry it around if one is vacuuming areas above the floor. Further aiding the latter is the canister'ss ergonomic carrying handle. The wind up cord mechanism is smooth and quick. The cord itself is thick and durable. The telescoping arm of the main brush is thoroughly satisfying to regulate, delivering precise and crisp clicks. It also has a good range of lengths. The included three attachments are a very nice added feature, helping you reach into narrow spaces as well as vacuum more delicate items safely. Finally, the vacuum uses THREE separate filters if you count the dust bag. This means its exhaust consists only of warm air. The dust bag itself offers generous capacity. Mine came with six bags for free! I think all the North American ones may be sold like so.
Some of the big box stores are selling this vacuum for absolutely cosmic prices from 700$ or 800$! I would of course not recommend paying this much. However, any price between 200 and 300$ is good. Vacuum cleaners from the likes of Miele, Samsung and Panasonic are really no better if not worse, yet sell for much more.
