Love this series!
Wonderful series that chronicles the Thoroughbred breeding and racing history in Maryland from Colonial times through the Civil War and into Reconstruction. Three generations of families, their struggles and triumps.
I read it years ago; this is book One. My replacement because I lost it and this is a series that I will keep in my library forever. Book Two is Swan's Chance. Book Three is A Season of Swans. Buy all three; you won't be disappointed!

Billy the Boy Naturalist
I live near the setting for this book. I would like to have known exactly where Billy"s homes were. I did not care much for the poetry and quotes the author interspersed throughout the text. They were poor quality poetry and did not match the subject matter. I enjoyed the accounts of Billy's natural history experiences
