An uneven experience

Samsung S8 has many authentication methods, via fingerprint, face recognition and by iris scan. Each of these works only sometimes. I'd rather had one method working 100% of the time. The placement of fingerprint scanner is not well thought out. The phone is very slick and looks amazingly well, with very thin bezels. But what makes it look so good also makes it hard to use. it's a challenge to hold it steady without touching the screen. Bigsby assistant button is often in your way, thankfully it can be disabled. Biggest disappointment for me was that I could not update the phone. The authentication failure prevented a simple on-the-phone update, and when I attempted to use Smart Switch on my mac, after taking over an hour to download 3.5 GB of data, and decrypt it, transfer to the phone failed. It tried again, and it failed again. The instructions provided by Smart Switch for recovery from failed update were quite confusing and a little scary (sounded as if I was really close to bricking the phone). Thankfully, the phone booted with old version of OS with my data still present. The impressive thing for me was the amazing screen, with my old pictures acquiring new and psychedelic colors.
