Best chick flick adaptation of the all-time best chick lit book.
Of all the million dramatizations of "Jane Eyre," this is far and away the best. When I first saw it, I thought it had been cleverly rewritten to reflect a modern, feminist viewpoint. I was delighted to reread the book and see it was all in the original. Now, why couldn't the other screenwriters see and use those gems?
Also, fantastic acting, to go with the script, In most every other adaptation, Mr Rochester is gloomy and severe, Jane timid and joyless. In this adaptation, they tease and joust with each other: they have personality, and you can see why they click, why they fall in love with other's intellect and spirit.
