Used this 771 Xeon X5460 in a old HP dx2400
Used this 771 Xeon X5460 in a old HP dx2400. Took a carpet knife, heated the tip with a lighter and cut off the plastic tabs in the motherboard socket - this was to accommodate the 771 CPU inside of the 775 socket.
The cpu i bought had the 771 to 775 mod sticker already attached so it was just a drop-in upgrade from there.
This cpu performs better that the Core 2 Quads and runs cooler, great all-round!
