Still need to stone your knife just work much much better than a steel.
If you have your bevel angle when you stone it more much more acute (say 15°-18°) then the angle used on this tool (im guessing is 22°-28°) you can get that fine edge on the knife for longer with out re-stoning it.
Start with harder pressure (if blunt) then very light pressure to the blade, always straight at 90° .
