I love old things, things that are needless frippery, music, books, history, antiques, jewellery, genealogy & photographs. Please leave feedback, I leave it for people (and sometimes they remind me) and then they don t bother to leave it back!

"VERY GOOD" Joyce, Rachel, Perfect, Book
20 Nov, 2017
A story of love, loss, grief and forgiveness and time. Just 2 seconds .... in those 2 seconds anything can happen
Somewhat darker than her previous work, the story centres on a dysfunctional family the Hemmings, Byron is an English school boy living with his mother and sister in a country house. Byron's father Seymour works in the City and only comes home to see his family at the weekends. Though his work pays for the big house, the Jaguar that his wife drives and the private education his children receive, he is, in reality, only a visitor in their lives. Is their life all that it seems? A story that centres itself on time, 2 seconds that will be added to the atomic clock in 1972, anything can happen in those 2 seconds... .....Anything. I read this with my Read to Relax group and everyone enjoyed it. It weaves with it's twists and turns as Rachel Joyce takes you by both hands and drags you along with the main characters, experiencing their lives at two different points in time, their hurt, their pain, culminating in tragedy, loss, forgiveness and redemption.
