A fun, fast word game to play with family and friends

I am a long time Scrabble player. My family does not necessarily share my passion for Scrabble. I enjoy word games. Royalty is a fun, quick alternative word game that seems to have been around since the 60's. I was recently introduced to the game by a friend. The game employs two decks of playing cards. The playing cards each have a letter of the alphabet with a letter score. There are a few ways to score points - make words, make words using all the same color letters for a bonus, steal words from an opponent by adding letter(s) to a word of theirs while changing the meaning of the word, and accumulating the most cards. There doesn't appear to be a time limit on how long you can take to make a word. This is a great feature for those that do not like time restrictions. I was surprised that I had not heard of this game previously. It is definitely a fun game to play with family and friends. It is compact and travels easily, unlike Scrabble. My family enjoyed the game so much, I had to give up one set to a family member and purchase a second set.
