The Best of Both Worlds!
Sick of dropping your flatpick on the floor? Do your hands cramp up when using a "hybrid" picking style with flat pick and fingers? Herco has the perfect solution. Half thumb-pick, half flat pick, fully awesome. It's essentially a flatpick that hangs on to your thumb, allowing a natural hand position, full use of all fingers, and eliminates pick droppage. Never lose another pick inside your guitar, or under the furniture! Takes a bit to get used to, but once you do, you'll never go back to a standard flat pick.
I recommend the "Heavy" gauge picks, as the light and medium gauges get soft with heat from your hands, and slip off. Extra heavy is also an option, but proved too heavy and stiff for my use. Your mileage may vary. Try them out for yourself. :)

Great value for repair work.
A perfect fit for the 1990's Ibanez EX series guitar I was fixing for a friend. The fit and finish are excellent on these; they feel very solid. My only critique: The height adjustment screws are taller than I'd like, and, while not exactly sharp, are rough on the picking hand when palm-muting. Luckily, the height adjustment screws weren't needed for this project (the fretboard had a very flat radius), so I simply removed them completely and adjusted the bridge to ride higher in the cavity. Overall, I'd give these a 9.5 of a possible 10. Need saddles? These will do nicely. :)

Blackface Fender Tone, at your Feet!
2 of 2 found this helpful I bought the Black '65 to create cranked blackface amp tones without making my sound technician mad. It delivers, in spades! Makes my 1976 Fender Twin sound like a cranked-up '65 Deluxe, with the added convenience of a 3-band tone stack (The Deluxe only had Bass and Treble).
This pedal can be configured as a clean boost, boost with a little bit of "dirt", or a full-on overdriven monster, depending on how you set the knobs and "gain boost" switch. Just bear in mind that the EQ "flat" setting is bass at 8 o'clock, mids at 11 o'clock, and treble at 11 o'clock. The tone controls are sensitive, with a wide dynamic range, and enough boost to overdrive your amp, if you want. Place it in your signal chain, where an overdrive would go, or at the very end, just before the amp. I've done both, and the pedal responds equally well... quiet and transparent, allowing the tone of your instrument to shine through.
My favorite moment with this pedal was at a "battle of the bands". I was playing with a blues band, and was using the Black '65 with a Telecaster to get a Danny Gatton/Roy Buchanan type tone. There were guys with large racks of effects, that took 20 minutes to set their sound with the provided backline. I walked in with my Tele in a gig bag, a cable, and the Black '65, and ran straight into the provided '65 Twin Reverb reissue amp. The Black '65 turned the legendarily clean, smooth Twin into a snarling, gritty monster with lively dynamics. Everyone was asking me how I got my tone! I highly recommend this pedal to anyone who wants the goodness of a cranked blackface in a compact pedal.
