Thinking in Pictures: Autism By Temple Grandin

Essential reading if you have an interest in autism.

A revealing account of what it means to be autistic written by someone on the spectrum rather than the majority of books by so-called experts who still don't "get" it! Honest, informative, interesting and sometimes funny, this book is still very relevant now after 25 years. There is still a long way to go for the medical and educational establishments to understand autism and this book is essential reading for anyone affected by or involved with autism in its many forms.

The softer side of Lisa's music

Those who are familiar with Lisa Gerrard's previous recordings and live performances might be surprised at this album's overall soft and atmospheric feel. Not that Lisa hasn't done this kind of material before but a whole album's worth of gentle, spiritual music is not what I was expecting. Still, it's deep and well crafted, as you might expect from such a meticulous singer/songwriter/musician/performer as Lisa. Beware of dodgy foreign releases that are probably bootlegs - I got mine from dvdishka who is based in Ukraine. The sleeve had 3 spelling mistakes in the songtitles and the writing on the DVD was unreadable. He claims he is the authorised distributor but something tells me he is the official bootlegger.
