Great kit from Halfords
As always, Halfords advanced pro range is second to none (including the very well-known one). Won't ever use anything else now.

Very effective, brought up my scratched and dull watch bracelet like new with little effort.

Trying something new.
This was my first (new) traditional DE razor since my teens - a good few years ago!
First impressions were great. The build and quality are second to none, it feels nice and weighty in the hand and the shave it gives, given that I'm still getting familiar with it, is very good.
My only problem is a personal one:
I still use my old Gillette slim adjustable which I've had for thirty-five years and the balance is very different. I'm also used to a longer handle for my huge mitts. I also occasionally use a straight, and the Rolls Razor which my grandfather taught me to shave with (before he'd let me loose with a straight) and although the Rolls also has a short handle, I've got used to using it and love the care that you need for a good baby smooth shave.
In short - the Merkur is a lovely razor and does what it says. I'd prefer a longer handle with the same or even slightly more weight, and also finer groves on the safety bar. Sounds like I'd like a Merkur version of the Gillette Slim adjustable, doesn't it? And why not? The Futur is lovely to look at, but I'm a bit old fashioned and would love a better version of the one I've used for years.
