Pros: Finding the right system device driver file from US Robotic's support and saving it onto a thumb drive was easier than I thought it would be. There weren't endless lists of driver files to rake through. One click to download. One click to install. One click to connect. Cons: I hadn't shopped for dial-up modems in forever but needed to upgrade a modem for upgraded software. I thought maybe they were dirt cheap by now. This wasn't the dirt cheap I was looking for, but for a little extra I did wind up with space saving reliability. No bells and whistles. Just good working connections.
