Perfect Antenna for our new Mobile setup
We recently purchased one of these on ebay and it was a very easy installation. We run Icom 7000 with a Turbo tuner control box designed for the IC 7000 .
We mounted ours through our receiver hitch to our Bike Rack Mount that tilts back .I had to drill 2 holes that lined up with the bracket holes supplied with the antenna . We had to drill a new 3/8 hole to mount a 2 inch wide ground strap 24 inches long to the receiver hitch using star washers . The setup produces a very good swr on 10-80 meters after we shortened the whip a few inches to get top end of 10 meters with a very good acceptable swr that makes our Ameritron ALS500M happy from our other vehicle we borrowed to test for rf issues with new car. .
I still need to do some bonding on the new car 2016 Ford Escape but that will happen after the hot summer is over.
I run High Sierras 1800's on my other 2 vehicles with same setups with radios and amps The quality of this antenna already has me thinking about ordering the longer 200hp for the car we drive daily to work .
My 1st contact on the new install was a 5/9 into Italy on 20m in the driveway with 100 watts .

WESOME MOBILE RADIOS
3 of 4 found this helpful I run this Icom IC 7000 in 3 mobiles and they work very well with the separation kit option to hide radios out of sight and run the remote head to easily mount in newer small vehicles.
The noise blanker notch filters are exceptional .The only issues I have found in over 5 years of use is the radio will start losing rf power because the fuse blades need cleaned off to eliminate the lower voltage drop from oxidation.
What is nice is being able to hook a monitor to back of radio to have a larger display to see.
I might note if your running a high sierra or tar heel screwdriver there are controller that match up very well to the ic 7000 / turbotuner -2 model itt-1 for Icom radio only works well with the ic 7000 and is plug and play with tarheel
I get great audio reports running the audio bandwidth at low 200 high 2900 and compression set at 5 mic gain at 70 .
