One part of comprehensive anti-flea regimen
Good product--works as intended. Kills adult fleas that are biting your pup very quickly, but transiently. Flea shampoo does the same thing. What it will not do is kill the eggs or maturing larvae that are no doubt in the dog's environment (adult fleas can lay 20-50 eggs/day, and these are very stable). It takes some time before hatched eggs mature into biting adults, too.
While it kills adult fleas quickly and can give your pet some immediate relief, unless given daily or so for up to a month, it alone will not get rid of the entire problem. Our pup is outdoors, so the whole kennel gets treated with diatomaceous earth/permethrins, both of which persist in the environment for a long time. We use these tablets as a supplement to rotated imidacloprid (Advantage/Amazon basics) and fipronil (Frontline/PetArmor) drops. Sometimes alongside the OTC drops containing permethrins (and related etofenprox in Hartz drops). Methoprene, pyriproxyfen, or other insect growth regulators are also helpful. 4-week drops usually get reapplied after 3 weeks because they start to lose effectiveness.
There are newer drugs that last longer but are more expensive and are still branded.
Note that your dog might scratch heavily for a few hours after dosing--it is unclear whether this is because dying fleas are more actively biting or if it is a direct reaction to product, or both. Nonetheless, this effect seems temporary and only lasts a few hours. A benefit of the cheap permethrins is they also repel mosquitoes that cause heartworm.
Do not get complacent once you have the flea problem 'under control'--all it takes is a single late-hatching egg or one flea from a passing squirrel to start the cycle all over again.

Better than generic patches
While these are much better than the tiny rectangular generic patches sold by many here that are of questionable origin and contain more stinky camphor than nicotine (instructions for some say use up to 3 (!!!) patches at one time--absurd), other brands (Equate, for example) are more reliable. These round Habitrol patches stick ok and probably contain the indicated amount of nicotine (you need over 50 mg nicotine total for them to reliably deliver their stated 21 mg dosing per 24 hours), these do not stick as well as others (namebrand and Equate). But they'll last 24 hours if you apply pressure for a half minute or so during application. Suggest applying after a shower or heavy workout because they are hit-or-miss in terms of water resistance. Equate patches are the most reliable amongst the aftermarket/generic nicotine patches, but their auction price is typically higher than Habitrol (my initial attraction) but not always. I use the Equate patches primarily, but intersperse them with Habitrol patches. Also, it seems that these are being marketed in different packaging--don't know if this is simply a manufacturing/marketing difference or if some are real and some are not. Buyer needs to investigate. Mine say manufactured in Germany and marketed in Australia/New Zealand by GlaxoSmithKline, who has acquired a lot of Novartis, the original manufacturer of Habitrol, over the past 6 years. This information should be on the right side of the box when facing you. So, my patches probably had several long rides on non-climate-controlled cargo ships. Nicotine sulfate is very stable, but the patch adhesive is what will be affected first by age and climate. Anyways, they work ok, provided they are real.

It works and is actually real!
Decent effect so far. A nice change from all of the counterfeit Advantage II and Advantix that is for sale here.
