Still a good mid-level reel.
Tried and true Penn Reel. Water resistant without the official IPX rating. Dunked mine a few times in the salt water and never had any issues afterward.
With the new VI series out, the V series would be a great alternative to those looking to save a bit of $$.

Good budget travel surf perch rod.
Used this for a few sessions now for a variety of types of fishing. Caught a variety of surf perch and a few smaller (19") striped bass.
Pros:
1) PRICE! Great price for what you get.
2) Sensitivity the slim taper makes it easy to detect small bites.
Cons:
Supposedly has a lure rating up to 2oz. It's say it's better suited for up to 1 oz.
Otherwise great rod for the money.

Only telescopic rod rated for 10oz. Not the perfect rod, but works good for my needs.
This is my second pair of MAYA rods bought. The first set is a pair fo 13fters. I was looking for something strong and durable specifically to handle West Coast Crab Snaring for Big 3-5 lbs Dungeness Crabs.
I have put these to the test for the last 2 months on crabs (off the beach and pier) as well as caught smaller size (17-19' inch) stripers on these. They performed great! The 10ft size was WAY easier to handle versus the 13fters and make them versatile for all fishing situations.
- The lure rating is up to 10oz which is perfect for crab snaring (this is the shortest model of this rod that offers this lure rating)
- the 3 meter (10fter) version also has one less section versus the rest of the galaxy models, which I thought would help with overall durability.
- because they are made of fiberglass they aren't as stiff are your carbon composite surf rods, but I like having a bit of flex.
One BIG plus vs the 13ft rods I ordered years ago. The shipping time has improved DRAMATICALLY. I got it within 10 days of ordering. (last time it took over a month)
My biggest qualm with this rod is the butt length is too short to get easy leverage when casting. If you have good casting mechanics you can make up for this, but it's not easy.
The guides could also be improved, but for the price, you get what you paid for.
Considering this is the only telescopic rod with a 10oz lure rating I would buy it again.
