It bleached the wood a bit.
I think you really need to strip off all the varnish for it to work properly, but that would probably be enough to take off the black mould anyway.

I returned it
quality excellent, however the clock was too dim to see in the day and too bright at night.
I would prefer a DAB clock radio that has red lights like the old ones did
