The lovely 20th century viola
This is a lovely introduction to British viola music from the early to mid 20th century and a good lead-in to more contemporary work. Specialist musicianship, as here, greatly helps to draw attention to lesser known works by both well-known composers and those who don't get as much attention but should, as here. The variety of the instrument is well displayed and its particular moody lyricism drawn out. Delightful item from a reliable label.

Lovely CD of good performances of work by a successful 20th century composer, maybe not as well known as he should be.
Wish there was more Hope available - this is a very engaging CD of wind work, accessible, wry, touching. Great performances.

Excellently played work for viola.
This is a very satisfying Bridge CD, with transcriptions also for viola. The energy and quality of Bridge comes through in all versions of his work.
