Installation of this CHT Gauge is not for the Faint Hearted!
2 of 2 found this helpful The probe is well-made and would fit nicely on a head that was flat where the spark plug screws in. Unfortunatley my air cooled VW 1600 cc twin-port motor has 8 mm deep recesses where the plugs screw in. I've read that you need to modify the head with a Dremmel to get optimal clearance for the probe. This is best done with the motor removed and tinware off. I decided to attempt installation of the probe with motor in the frame and tinware in place. The probe was bent to a near right angle but it then fouled the plug so a second bend was placed. The plug with probe attached is proving tricky to install and we don't want any crossed threads in the head. I might epoxy the probe in place so spark plugs can come and go unhindered. What is needed is a probe design that is essentally "plug & play".
