Last Great Rockabilly Saturday Vol. 2- Various Artists
I was searching for a particular song which is long since out-of-print, and not readily available, even in used condition. The song appears on this CD--that is the main reason for buying it. As a generous bonus, there are 34 other songs done in the 1950's rockabilly style. It's comparable to having a set of 2-3 CD's on one disc. The sound is respectable, sounding just like the originals. This is an eclectic collection comprised of songs and artists that may have been regional, or limited national fame. Many are obscure but provide enjoyable listening nevertheless. For the 1950's rockabilly enthusiasts this CD is enjoyable overall. It is reminiscent of the beginning of the rock-and-roll era, and it's simple roots and limited instrumentation. Despite the use of only basic instruments, the sound is full, as the style was meant to be. Listening to these tunes should result in some toe-tapping. For those who played guitars back then but have long since put them in their basement storage area, it's enough to want to dig them out, dust them off, and accompany the largely 3-chord songs. It's symbolic of a simpler, more carefree era. Yes, some of the songs are hum-drum, but overall this is an interesting collection that should bring back a lot of memories for those who were teenagers at the time these were recorded. Good, clean music for good clean fun.

Latest version of the Catholic Church catechism
1 of 1 found this helpful This edition of the Catechism is the most recent version. The layout makes it easy to follow. It is an excellent reference book, but can also serve as good reading material, although too lengthy to read completely in a short period of time. There is a wealth of information about the Catholic Church's teachings and doctrines and is written in plain English, with the explanations easy to understand. The back has several appendices which will prove helpful when attempting to cite specific sections of the book. There is also historical data, such as Church Councils and Synods, Pontifical Documents, Ecclesiastical documents, glossary, the index, and more. A very comprehensive book that should be in every Catholic household.

Rock N'Roll Tornado by Dale Hawkins
More like 2 CD's, with a total of 30 songs by Dale Hawkins. I first heard his early hits in the late 1950's. One of them in particular (Suzie Q) has been covered by Creedence Clearwater Revival, with the main parts done in a similar style, an attribute to the sound of Dale. These are early rock and rockabilly style tunes taking us back to simpler days of 3 or chord songs with uncomplicated lyrics. The CD was bought mainly for the purpose of the familiar hit songs and is worth it for that reason alone. The rest are not as great, but still provide listening pleasure for those who enjoy this style of music. Some of the guitar solos are slightly advanced compared to most heard at that time. Many of the songs are not unusually remarkable, but, as with most artists, give a better glimpse into the singer's talents. One can only do so much with the material he/she is given to work with. For the price, the album is certainly worthwhile, and I am glad to add it to my collection.
