If only i knew what this did,,, A Year ago,,Now my hot water is perfect
2 of 3 found this helpful This item wears out, as it has a plastic turbine, which the flow of cold water makes it spin, The sensor on top of the turbine detects the spinning, then switches the flame / Hot water on.
When these wear, your hot water does not work as it should.
I'd say these would wear out after 3 years, 4 at the most. Fitting a new one, 30 mins max, including draining the system down.
You are NOT touching any Gas parts to replace this item,,, It's a simple plumbing job.
