Learned about prison life
The story was interesting, but no spoilers here! Written in 2008 so perhaps the idea of women body shaming was not talked about then. One of the characters goes on & on about how much she dislikes her body, I think she's a size 12. If this had been a traditional book, I would have just skipped those parts.
It was interesting to learn about the early days of the Catholic religion. The medical information was not as well researched as it could have been. But I was entertained enough to listen until the end. Since I listen while driving, the content needs to be easy enough to follow so as not to distract. This J. Picoult novel fit the bill.
