Incredible headroom and bass
3 of 3 found this helpful I bought my 5400 about six months ago and could not be more pleased. In playing CDs through an Emotiva DAC, then a McIntosh C-26 preamp, and finally to fully-restored Acoustic Research AR-90 speakers (and with great Interconnects) it has to be heard to be believed. My ARs LOVE undistorted power, and being 4 ohm speakers are getting 200 Watts RMS/channel. The headroom is fantastic, the separation superb, and the bass extraordinary. Yes, with MOSFETs it does run pretty hot. I got an AV cooler for it which really helps, and I can stack my Preamp on top of it now.
