Works as a dimmer for incandescent bulbs but not LED bulbs. Also, be careful.
Works well as a dimmer for incandescent bulbs, but sadly doesn't work with modern dimmable LED bulbs. The terminal wiring, which I couldn't find documented anywhere, is:
N IN
L IN
L OUT
N OUT
(Ordered Left to Right, when viewed looking into the terminals with screws on top)
N IN and N OUT do not not to be connected, and are there for convenience (the circuit board just joins them up).
Health & Safety warning:
Be very careful when attaching the wires to the terminals. If pushed too far in, they can short against the heatsink making a big lump of metal 240V live (see attached picture). This might end badly for the controller board and/or the user.

Looks ok, but doesn't shield properly against electronic noise
These cables are usually 4-core screened with each core connecting to a plug pin. There is an extra wire that runs along the outer screen called the screen drain wire, and connects to the 5th pin in the plug. This is grounded and protects signals in the wire against unwanted electrical noise/interference. This is what is shown in the product picture (the screen drain wire is the slightly thicker black one).
Sadly, that is not what is shipped. I received a 6-core screened cable, where all 5 plug pins connect to internal wires. The cable screen and 6th internal wire were just cut off under some heat-shrink. What this means is that there is little/no electronic noise protection to the USB data signals in the cable, as the cable screen is not grounded.
If there is not much interference then I'm sure it'll work fine, but 1m is quite a distance with no screening, and inside a PC case is going to be quite noisy. Unfortunately, options for this type of cable at this length are very limited, and the price is ok if it works in your setup.

Confirmed working with modern dimmable LED bulb
I tried cheaper dimmers (like the SCR circuit boards with heatsink sticking up) but they didn't work - the LED bulb flickered to varying degrees, they buzzed, they were electrically dangerous, etc. This one works well and is nicely contained inside a box. The box cover does pull off (too) easily, exposing the circuit board underneath. The spindle is pushed in to switch on/off.
