Month of Meals Diabetic Cookbook Series
This series of books are great for anyone who is trying to be careful with their sugar intake. I have purchased several of these. They are very easy to use. I prefer the older ones from the '90s. The newer ones have great menus, but fewer recipes for muffins and desserts. The month of meals 4 that I recently purchased has a recipe for yogurt fruit bars and low fat lemon cheesecake, as well as oatmeal-raisin scones, and more. A convenient feature is being able to mix and match the meals because of the spiral binding and the pages being cut in thirds. So, if I want to use Breakfast # 1 with Dinner #24 I can easily do that by flipping the page. One advantage to the newer ones is that they list the exact carb count under each menu number. The older ones don't do that. All in all, I recommend these.

Closing the Gap by Jay McGraw
I found this book at a thrift store and it caught my eye. What parent who really loves their child isn't interested in closing the gap that seems to come at times when life goes on, and difficulties come? I have read the entire book. In fact, once I began to read, it was difficult for me to put it down. I read well into the morning to finish it in one sitting. There were times when I laughed as I read it and times when I became teary eyed. This book has some wonderful ideas and suggestions, and it gives a very balanced view of the struggles both parents and teens face as they live together on a daily basis. It's goal truly is to help parents and teens bridge the gaps in their relationships in a proper and encouraging way. The suggestions are very practical and down to earth. The sections that help parents and teens pinpoint their needs and the other's needs and what can be done to strengthen the relationship are excellent. I would give this book a rating of excellent as far as content is concerned. Overall, I have to give it a below average rating. I was disappointed to see such an insightful young man, who has a delightful style of writing, use crude and profane words. Four letter words and crude thoughts are liberally sprinkled throughout the book. I could tell he had thought out what he wanted to say, but would have encouraged him to use a better vocabulary to express himself. If you don't mind wading through the language used, then you might want to purchase and read this book. However, I have my doubts as to whether or not I will encourage my teen to read it. I am trying to teach him to express himself in loftier ways, not to use gutter language to get his ideas across.

It looks as if the Kings and Queens and Prince Caspian are doomed to lose the battle, but Aslan awakes the creatures of the forest and King Edmund is able to kill the power of the White Witch and Prince Caspian gains his father's kingdom. King Peter and Queen Susan leave Narnia never to return again because they are too old.
